Description

Thunder-class performance, rebuilt for the Sonic generation

The Dualtron Sonic Model A, codenamed ALIEN, takes the place traditionally occupied by the Thunder: a road-going flagship built around serious power, but redesigned as part of Dualtron’s new Sonic platform. Two 2,500 W nominal hub motors provide 5,000 W combined nominal power, while their combined maximum output reaches 11,200 W for short bursts.

The manufacturer states a maximum speed of 110 km/h** when unlocked for private-land use. On public roads, the delivered configuration remains restricted according to local regulations. The quoted 70% climbing capability reflects the reserve behind the headline figures, particularly when gradients, load or rolling resistance increase.

What distinguishes the ALIEN is how that performance is organised. One-touch Turbo temporarily raises controller output for demanding moments, while traction control and the 72 V architecture help turn the available power into a more deliberate, manageable response.

Forty amp-hours of premium-cell endurance

The 72 V 40 Ah battery uses high-output Samsung 21700 50S 9C or LG INR21700H51T 9C cells. Dualtron quotes a theoretical range of 125 km under controlled conditions, giving the ALIEN the capacity for long urban journeys, extended leisure riding and high-consumption performance use without making every outing revolve around the next charge.

A CAN-bus battery-management system monitors voltage, current and temperature while protecting against over-charge, over-discharge, short circuit, over-current and overheating. The integrated fire-alarm function adds another layer of monitoring around the battery pack.

One 5 A charger brings the quoted charging time to approximately eight hours. Two charging ports allow two compatible 5 A chargers to be used together, reducing the quoted turnaround to around four hours.

Control hardware designed for the speed

Power of this level needs braking and chassis hardware that remain predictable under pressure. The ALIEN uses NUTT four-piston hydraulic callipers with 160 mm discs, linked CBS braking, EBS electronic braking assistance and ABS. The combined system coordinates mechanical and electronic braking to provide strong, progressive control.

Front and rear interchangeable suspension cartridges use adjustable gaskets to tune the response, while an adjustable steering damper is fitted as standard. Eleven-inch runflat tyres add a broad contact patch, and approximately 180 mm of ground clearance gives the chassis useful room over ramps and imperfect surfaces.

The wheels, hubs and motors use a modular layout so key parts can be removed independently. Together with the high-efficiency modular controller and motor-cooling system, that design makes maintenance more direct without sacrificing the ALIEN’s substantial, planted character.

A smarter cockpit with security built in

The 3.5-inch TFT colour display keeps speed, riding mode, battery level, trip data and system information in immediate view. Its ambient-light sensor adjusts brightness automatically, while the Tenzon control core brings indicators, lighting, horn, hazard lights and Turbo control within reach.

Bluetooth connects the scooter to the companion app on iOS and Android. The integrated GPS module supports location tracking, while password protection, anti-theft control and an alarm help secure the scooter when it is parked. CAN-bus communication also gives the main systems a shared diagnostic backbone.

Visibility is equally well considered. A 45 W automatic headlight, sequential turn signals, rear lighting and app-controlled ambient illumination make the black ALIEN easier to read from different angles after dark. A mechanical speaker and horn add an audible warning system without depending entirely on cosmetic lighting.
